So, we had just arrived at Parati when it started to rain, and I guess that's when rain season started...
we have had rain every day up until now, but not the kind of Belgian rain... one moment everything is peaceful and sunny, when in a few minutes' time huge clouds come our way, followed by big storms, thunder and lightning, with nevertheless a temperature that stays really high, and then it passes and the sun comes back, so now we know why they call this the rain forest!
Parati is a nice little colonial town, but not much to do, a time to relax. We visited a beautiful hippie beach however, Trinidade, with a natural swimming pool next to it. The next day we went to some strange waterfalls, where you can slide down, some on there feet, like they are skating, we didn't got that far
Then we did a 10 hour busride to Curitiba, which is a nice student city, quite western actually, it reminds of a town in Spain, where all the young people gather in the streets at night to get drunk and sing songs...
Tonight we are taking the night bus to the Iguazu falls, amazing waterfalls, we are looking forward to it!

We have just finished our stay in paradise... Ihla Grande, waaw, this must be one of the most beautiful places on earth! White beaches, blue water filled with coloured fish and huge turtles, and behind the beach only nature, an enormeous jungle. Those who have seen the film The Beach, it reminds a lot of the beaches there, only the weed fields were missing... and Leonardo Di Caprio
But nevertheless, it is a fantastic place, really romantic, and lots of beaches to try.
We did some hiking through the wilderness, a trekking of 2,5 hours go and the same back for two days, with a long pause on a nice beach in between, but nevertheless we were broken once back at the hostal.
But it was worth it, you really get the tarzan-feeling while walking beyond the huge trees, with little monkeys above your head. we took some beautiful pictures, I will try to put them all on my facebook, if not we will put a few on this website, but as the internet connection in Brasil works with a foot pedal, it goes quite slowly...
Now we are at Paraty, a nice litlle town, but the weather just couldn't stay that nice, it started to rain, and when it rains in Brasil, you´d better find a refuge in an internet bar. We wanted to do some beaches here, but everything depends on the weather.

Hello everybody!

Ziehier ons eerste verslagje!
Zaterdagavond goed maar geradbraakt aangekomen in Rio de Janeiro, lange vlucht maar twas waard!
Leuke hostal, lekker weertje (hot hot hot), Rio is superzalig, alles dik in orde dus hier.
Zondag hebben we onze trip al goed ingezet met een voetbalmatch (jaja, Anke loves voetbal vanaf nu in het grootste (?) voetbalstadium ter wereld, en dan nog tussen de 2 grootste voetbalploegen van Brazilië, dus je kan je al inbeelden hoe de sfeer erinzat... ambiance tot en met, opeens match onderbroken door megastorm, bliksems, donder, (terwijl het een kwartier daarvoor nog bakken in de zon was, tweer hier is heeel bizar) de massa werd heeelemaal gek, in de regen beginnen dansen en dan van die dansjes doen de ene kant van het stadium tegen de andere, omtert grappigst. Dan is de match toch nog doorgegaan, spijtiggenoeg had ons team verloren, waarop dan een heus gevecht is begonnen, natuurlijk net op de tribunes waar wij zaten, een vliegend blikje bier over me heen gehad, maar wel grappig eigenlijk (ze hadden dan ook de trainer van het andere team in een glazen kot boven onze tribune gezet, dus iedereen werd razend omadt we aan het verliezen waren...)
's Avonds zijn we naar Favella Funk Party gegaan, een party in de sloppenwijken, echt de max, van die zware reggaeton en big black brazilians en shemales en vrouwen met enorme konten en borsten en die ook alle kanten op shaken, ook een belevenis!
Maandag dan redelijk groggy dus nie veel gedaan, wel een ander deel van Rio bezocht, en 's avonds afgesproken met een Frans koppel dat dezelfde reis als wij maar in tegenovergestelde richting heeft gedaan, wel gezellig.
Vandaag naar Christusbeeld gegaan, zo een indrukwekkend zicht! Een huge Jesus vanbovenop op een enorme berg midden in de stad, en zalig zicht over heel tstad. Dan naar strand, At the Copa - Copacabaaanaaaa, prachtig strand(daar is ook onze hostal) zonnecreme vergeten, en redelijk pijnlijk, maar je hoort ons niet klagen hoor!
Nu is er bbq in de hostal, dus volgende keer meer!
